Types of Members

Tri-Village Fire Company is comprised of several types of members to support the mission of serving the community. Members may assist during a variety of calls including fire calls (brush fire and structure fire), powerline down calls, EMS calls, service calls, and auto accident calls.

Class A: Interior Firefighter

May respond to all calls
The only member allowed to enter burning infrastructures to fight fires
Must respond to a minimum of 10% of calls per year
Must attend 4 regular meetings and 6 company drills per year
Must complete Basic Exterior Firefighter Operations (BEFO) and Interior Firefighter Operations (IFO) given by New York State
Must obtain SCBA qualification

Class B: Exterior Firefighter

May respond to all calls
May fight fires from outside; may not enter burning infrastructures
Must respond to a minimum of 10% of calls per year
Must attend 4 regular meetings and 6 company drills per year
Must complete Basic Exterior Firefighter Operations (BEFO) given by New York State
Must obtain SCBA qualification

Class: C

EMS PERSONNEL / (EMT)

May respond to all calls
Must respond to a minimum of 10% of calls per year
Must attend 4 regular meetings and 6 company drills per year
Must complete the New York State EMT Certification within two years and remain current

FIRE POLICE

May respond to all calls
Duty is to ensure safety of all persons at the emergency scene through a) protection of victims, their vehicles, and their property, b) ensuring safety of bystanders, c) controlling flow of traffic to ensure emergency vehicles may enter emergency scene, and d) assisting in the preservation of evidence
Must respond to a minimum of 10% of calls per year
Must attend 4 regular meetings and 6 company drills per year
Must complete the Fire Police course given by New York State
Must be registered as a fire police officer with New York State and take the oath of office as a Peace Officer

FIREFIGHTER SUPPORT

May respond to all calls
Duty is to provide support including through carrying firefighter equipment, supporting EMTs, etc.
Must respond to a minimum of 10% of calls per year
Must attend 4 regular meetings and 6 company drills per year

Life Member

Must have served in the Tri-Village Fire Company for at least 5 years and have made a substantial contribution to the company
May apply to Class A, B, and C members
May be nominated by the Life Membership Committee and approved by a secret ballot by the majority of members at the meeting
